Listed below are the most current and popular Instant Messaging Programs available for download. If you would like to download one of these programs to your computer, please click on the download link. By clicking the download link you are going to be downloading the most recent release of the Messaging Program to your computer. A window should pop up asking you what would you like to do with the file. We recommend you choose to "Save" it. The most logical place to save the file would be to your Desktop. MSN Tutorial
  • Click on the Download link and download MSN Messenger (MicroSoft Network Messenger) to your desktop.
  • After the download is complete, double click on the new icon to install the program.
  • After installation is complete, a MSN messenger window will appear. Click the button “Sign In.”
  • If you already have an MSN .Passport Sign-In Name (this is not your Frontier username and is in no way associated with Frontier) enter it into the new window with your password and you are ready to chat! Click “OK” to begin.
  • If you do not have a MSN .Passport Sign-In Name, click on the “Get One Here” link to get one. This will take you to a sign up page with MSN and guide you through the Registration process. The screen name must be unique to MSN. There are millions of users already on MSN, so if your first Sign-In Name is already in use by someone else, keep trying.
  • After your Screen Name is created, use it to Sign In to MSN.
  • As soon as you sign on to AIM, you will see your contact list. This list shows you the contacts with whom you can communicate and their status (whether they are online or offline). From here you can add a contact to your contact list, send an instant message, and much more.
  • To add a contact, click on Add a Contact.
  • To send a message to a contact, highlight the contact’s name by clicking on it with your mouse and then click the button
  • This tutorial helps you install and use a few of the basic features of MSN messenger. For support with MSN messenger or with help in getting any advanced features working, select Help Topics from the Help menu on your contact list.

Yahoo Messenger Tutorial
  • Click on the install link and install Yahoo Messenger on your computer.
  • After installation is complete, a Yahoo Messenger “Getting Started” window will appear. If you have a Yahoo Messenger ID (this is not your Frontier username and is in no way associated with Frontier) you can enter it into the Log In window.
  • If you do not have a Yahoo ID, you can click the “Get a Yahoo ID” button.
  • Once you sign in (with a new or existing Yahoo ID) the main Yahoo window will appear.
  • To send an instant message to someone on your Yahoo contact list, double click on their listing.
  • This is a basic tutorial on how to do the common things done with Yahoo Messenger. For more on using the advanced features of Yahoo Messenger, click on the Help menu on the contact window and choice click on Messenger Help. This will take you to Yahoo Messenger’s official help site.
